Update on Changes for 2018

It's been a little while since we posted an update on our progress regarding the 2018 changes. There hasn't been a lot of additional information released by the CFPB regarding those changes in the last 6 months. We were hoping that they would have released the edit check specifications by now, but that hasn't happened as far as we know.
Since our last update, we have had many internal meetings about various ways to deal with the pending changes. We have come up with what we believe is an even better way to deal with the new data in Comply but it will take a little longer to implement. We feel the benefits outweigh a slight delay in release, and we just wanted to keep you up to date. The new release date for the import testing version of Comply 17 is now scheduled for April 2, 2017.
One of the biggest problems we were trying to deal with was how to show the new data vs. the old data in the Single Application view. Since you can start collecting 2018 data in the 4th quarter of 2017 (but cannot submit for 2017) we weren't sure whether to show the data in the new format or the old. We came up with a solution that we believe will not only answer that question but also add additional benefits.
We are now implementing a full Application View Designer that can be used to create fully customizable definitions (for users that have those permissions in Comply). The benefit for the 2017 vs. 2018 view is that we will have system definitions with the Comply standard view we have now, and also a 2018 view that will match the screen shots we previously released. The added benefit is that you can design your own application views including or excluding any fields in any order you desire. For example, maybe you have a user that just wants to see LAR data. We will have a template that you can use for that. You can do whatever you want with the application views. The functionality is very similar to how the List View definitions work presently.
At the end of the day, this approach will be much better, although it does extend our development time a little bit. We figured with the HMDA and CRA submissions you are all pretty busy anyway so we felt it was worth the delay. Everything else is still on track. Feel free to email or call if you have any questions or would like to discuss in a little more detail.
